What to expect

The first hour of our practice is in the shrine room starting with honoring the three jewels (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha), followed by reciting the refuges and precepts (handout).

Subhramani, Matt, Tom, and others take turns leading the meditation. After the refuges and precepts, a short text is read aloud, followed by a 40-minute meditation. We alternate meditations each week between the mindfulness of breathing and the metta bhavana. We usually end our time in the shrine room by reciting the transference of merit and self-surrender.

The meditation will be followed by a short break for tea, coffee and snack before we regroup in the library for a half an hour of “Dharma talk” and discussion of our experience with the day’s meditation.

All are welcome.
