JAN-FEB SERIES: It’s Not Out There: How to See Differently and Live an Extraordinary, Ordinary Life [book by Danapriya].
This discussion series is for anyone already familiar with meditation. We welcome beginners learning about Buddhism as well as more experienced practitioners seeking reminders and support. If you are looking for a learn-to-meditate course, please see our other offerings.
Do you want to suffer less and enjoy life more? Rather than looking outside yourself for happiness, success, and love, this book helps you look inside yourself, so life becomes more vivid, joyful and extraordinary. We can easily trip ourselves up through our thoughts, views and habits. By really taking the time – stopping, looking, feeling, being mindful – we gain a new level of awareness that radically shifts the way we see things. It’s about seeing the reality of the human predicament, seeing through the illusions that create unnecessary pain for yourself and others.
We’ll meet in-person from 1-3 pm every other Sunday:
Jan 11: pages 1-36 (please read before we meet …. page #s may change)
Jan 25: pages 37-72
Feb 8: pages 73-104
Feb 22: pages 105-139
Our sessions will consist of a period of meditation, a short break, and then discussion of what we’ve read.
Books will be available at the Nagaloka Bookstore (while supplies last … we’ve just ordered more). Amazon sells paperback and digital copies. See www.bookfinder.com for used books.
Sessions are offered on a donation basis. All funds support the non-profit Nagaloka Buddhist Center. For those who are able, the suggested donation is $20-$40 for the series. Donation options include PayPal, Venmo, and cash.
Facilitator Team: Subhramani, Dridhajyoti, and Janet
