About the event
The next Going Deeper Series explores the book, Train Your Mind: Tibetan Exercises in Wisdom and Compassion, by Dhirananda & Viryabodhi.
RSVP to register, so your seat is reserved and you receive important announcements, including schedule changes. You only need to rsvp for the 1st date in the series to be registered for the entire series.
We’ll meet in-person, every-other Sunday from 10:30am - 12:30pm for a short period of meditation followed by discussion of what we’ve read: Sept 20 (pages 1-21), Oct 4 (p 23-45), Oct 18 (p 47-69), Nov 1 (p 71-97), and Nov 15 (p 99-127).
BOOK SUMMARY: In the mind training of Tibetan Buddhism (Lojong tradition) you cultivate wisdom and compassion with the help of 59 slogans. Lojong inspires, challenges, and confronts you with life’s difficulties and your limitations, helping you develop a more enlightened perspective. This short book offers clear commentaries and exercises that bring the slogans to life. With practice, you shift from a limited, self-centred view to feeling more connected and liberated, and more able to be of benefit to others.
Books can be ordered through online vendors (our bookstore does not have enough copies).
Sessions are offered on a donation basis. The suggested donation is $20-$50 for the series.
We welcome experienced practitioners seeking reminders and support, as well as newer practitioners who are already familiar with meditation and wish to learn more about Buddhism. Please look elsewhere if you are seeking a learn-to-meditate course.
