New and old friends alike are invited to join us for an evening of meditation, discussion, and community.

Enjoy 30- to 40-minutes of guided mediation.  The level of guidance is tailored to those in the room.  The meditation will either be Mindfulness-of-Breathing or the Metta Bhavana, which fosters loving kindness for ourselves and others.

To prepare for meditation, we begin with a short period of ritualistic chanting (handout); this helps us transition to meditation and reminds us of how we wish to live.  A poem or short reading may then be offered.  The meditation portion of the evening may end with us reciting the Transference of Merit to express our desire to be of benefit to all beings.

A short break for refreshments occurs while those who wish to stay for discussion gather in different room.  The second portion of the evening typically entails either a …

  1. leisurely check-in, followed by open discussion about your efforts to meditate and apply buddhist practices in daily life, or
  2. brief check-in, followed by a 10-15-minute teaching, which is then followed by discussion.

Monday evenings occasionally feature guest speakers, devotional ceremonies, or creative performances.

Newcomers are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early so you can be oriented and helped with your meditation seating.

All are welcome!   Please join us for a peaceful evening of purpose and community.
