Southern Maine Eco-Sangha hosted by Nagaloka

We value a Buddhist response to ecological crises — we believe Buddhist practices-and-wisdom can nourish those who hear the cries of the earth and guide our choices in life. Our activities emerge from the interests of the group and the energy of individual volunteers. We’re guided by Joanna Macy’s framework of a Great Turning toward a life-sustaining society through holding actions to slow damage, structural change, and shifting consciousness.

Planned activities include … 1) ecodharma exploration (e.g., book discussion group and eco-sattva training group begin January 2023; ecodharma retreat in June), 2) gathering for eco-focused meditation and event planning, and 3) supporting each other in self-efforts in eco-education and individual behavior change.

Longer-term activities include eco-activism (meditation sit-ins?) and offering eco-resilience workshops for eco-activists/workers experiencing eco-grief/anxiety/anger/numbness.

Our events are free (donations welcome) and open to followers of all Buddhist traditions, including those newly interested in Buddhism.
