We decided to continue not having in person meditation and study group sessions on Wednesday evening.

Instead we will be meeting online. Join us by clicking on this Zoom link on Wednesday evenings, 6:45-8:00pm . We value Sangha (spiritual community) and feel it is important for us to have the opportunity to be together. We will use this time to meditation along with a short check in to see how we can best support one another. Plus the facilitator will continue on our Dharma theme offering everyone a focus for our practice. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our love and kindness for the wellness of all beings.

Week 8
Mindfulness of Reality

This week, at our Sangha Night, we come to the last chapter in our series on “Life with Full Attention”, Mindfulness of Reality.

Over the last 8 weeks, we have been cultivating awareness in a way that allows us to get closer and closer to our actual direct experience. When we cultivate awareness of our body, vedana, citta, and the teachings, we may have experiences where words and sub-vocalizing fall away. What is our experience then? What is left when words and concepts cease to fill our mind? What can we discover about Reality in these moments of direct experience?

Perhaps we have all had a glimpse or a “vision experience” at some point in our life that points to a “new dimension” or a new way of being and perceiving the world. These glimpses, when cultivated and reflected on, can modify who we are (“the habit of being Me”), be inspirational, boost confidence and be a catalyst for change in our life. As we go deeper and deeper with our mindfulness and our whole practice, we are treading the way towards Insight, a complete transformation, a shattering of our fixed sense of self.

As we complete this 8 week course, we will spend some time reflecting on what from the course we would like to continue in our day to practice. What has been most helpful over the last 8 weeks in your practice of developing mindfulness? In what ways can we be mindful of Reality as we continue to grow and develop?
