We decided to continue not having in person meditation and study group sessions on Wednesday evening.
Instead we will be meeting online. Join us by clicking on this Zoom link on Wednesday evenings, 6:45-8:00pm . We value Sangha (spiritual community) and feel it is important for us to have the opportunity to be together. We will use this time to meditation along with a short check in to see how we can best support one another. Plus the facilitator will continue on our Dharma theme offering everyone a focus for our practice. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our love and kindness for the wellness of all beings.
Join us to explore….this Wednesday…!
All are welcome!
The Five Spiritual Faculties
Faith
This Wednesday we will explore the first of the Five Spiritual Faculties, beginning with Faith. In Buddhism, faith/confidence is not to be confused with belief, as in “accepting as true on authority something that can never be verified, or something that is even inherently absurd.”
“Faith in Buddhism is the emotional counterpart of reason. What you understand with your intellect you must feel also with your emotions. The two go together and you can’t really separate them.”
One component of faith/confidence is in one’s own potential to grow and transform at all ages. Without this faith or confidence in oneself, the life you may wish to help create will be undermined by confusion and doubt.
To Buddhist practitioners, faith in the Three Jewels, the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha, and what they offer can be the focus for a new beginning each moment.
“A healthy spiritual life, just as much as a healthy psychological life, must include the expression of emotion. Having said that, there is a balance to be maintained. Faith and emotion can go to extremes, and when they do so they become superstition, fanaticism or intolerance.”
Please join us this Wednesday as we explore faith.
What does Faith (where you place your heart) mean to you?
“Faith is innate. Doubt acquired.”
