6:45 pm - 8:00 pm
We decided to continue not having in person meditation and study group sessions on Wednesday evening.
Instead we will be meeting online. Join us by clicking on this Zoom link on Wednesday evenings, 6:45-8:00pm . We value Sangha (spiritual community) and feel it is important for us to have the opportunity to be together. We will use this time to meditation along with a short check in to see how we can best support one another. Plus the facilitator will continue on our Dharma theme offering everyone a focus for our practice. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our love and kindness for the wellness of all beings.
Eight Verses For Training the Mind
This Wednesday eve we will delve into an ancient tradition of practice attributed to Langrithankpa a disciple of the 11th century Indian teacher Atisha.
These eight verses begin by setting an intention or aspiration that recognizes the ability of all beings to grow and change towards awakening. These verses plot a path to move from ignorance to wisdom, from craving to giving, and from hatred to compassion. With reflection and practice, the Mind Training verses help move us from a focus on self-cherishing to a broader sense of cherishing for ourselves and all beings. As we want to be happy, so too do all beings want to be happy.
1st “By cherishing all sentient beings as more precious than a wish-fulfilling jewel for accomplishing the highest gain (Enlightenment), I will always hold them dear,”
These simple and profound verses can show us what we can do to give body to our deepest aspirations and understandings. By practicing, realizing and living in the light of the dharma we can experience this positive growth here and now as if we held a wish-fulfilling jewel. Through these slogans we can develop our own personal slogans as to what is most important and meaningful in our practice and how to keep that aspiration alive?
Join us to explore….this Wednesday…!
