Please join us online by Zoom, Wednesday evenings, 6:45-8:30pm. We value Sangha (spiritual community) and the opportunity to be together. We will use this time for lightly guided meditation, a short check in to see how we can support one another, and exploration of a Buddhist topic. The facilitator will offer brief remarks and guide discussion as a way to focus our practice on that week’s theme. Themes may run several weeks, but each week can serve as a stand-alone session. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our love and kindness for the wellness of all beings.

Becoming a Bodhisattva
A Series on the Six Paramitas

Please join us on Wednesday evening as we continue our exploration of Becoming a Bodhisattva through the practice of the Six Paramitas. Last week, Subhramani started our discussion with a talk about what IS a Bodhisatva and how engaging in active practice of the Six Paramitas will be beneficial—not just for ourselves but for all beings.

This week we will look at the first paramita – generosity. We talked recently about Dana in our review of the Five Precepts. Generosity in the context of the paramitas is subtly different from Dana as an ethical practice. Sangharakshita writes that “Dāna is right at the top of the list of perfections for a very good reason, which is that our natural tendency is not to give, but to take. If any new proposition comes up, whether in connection with work or home, professional activity, sport, or entertainment, our usual reaction, at least half-consciously, is ‘What’s in it for me? “

We’ll explore the perfection of generosity using a reflection of a Zen teacher about three grapefruits.

Join us each week as we explore the Paramitas and how we can practice them in our own lives.

All are welcome!
