6:45 pm - 8:00 pm

We decided to continue not having in person meditation and study group sessions on Wednesday evening.

Instead we will be meeting online. Join us by clicking on this Zoom link on Wednesday evenings, 6:45-8:00pm . We value Sangha (spiritual community) and feel it is important for us to have the opportunity to be together. We will use this time to meditation along with a short check in to see how we can best support one another. Plus the facilitator will continue on our Dharma theme offering everyone a focus for our practice. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our love and kindness for the wellness of all beings.

Join us to explore….this Wednesday…!

All are welcome!

The Wheel of Life

One of the earliest examples of Buddhist expression is the symbol of the Wheel of Life.

There are many representations of this wheel available and each tells a slightly different version. It is claimed that the Buddha requested that this symbol be painted on entrances to sacred spots and have someone on hand to explain this ancient symbol to the curious.

This wheel can be observed as representing all of conditioned existence in a moment, a day, a lifetime or several lifetimes.

The center or hub is represented by the pig of ignorance, the snake of ill will and the rooster of craving, all connected, rolling along, endlessly driving the suffering of the world.

The next circle of half light and dark, represents our skillful creative or unskillful reactive responses to life.

The next ring is often depicted in six realms of existence. The lower three worlds of the animal realm, the hell realm and the realm of the hungry ghosts.

The higher three realms of human existence, gods and the Titans.

The outer rim depicts 12 scenes showing the different stages of the process of passing from world to world.

This symbol of The Wheel contains the whole of cyclical conditioned existence, constantly turning day and night, life after life.

There are escape routes off the wheel of conditional existence but we must find the spiral staircase that leads to inner peace, compassion and wisdom.

Please join us for the next several weeks well into the new year as we explore the Wheel of Life.
