We decided to continue not having in person meditation and study group sessions on Wednesday evening.
Instead we will be meeting online. Join us by clicking on this Zoom link on Wednesday evenings, 6:45-8:00pm . We value Sangha (spiritual community) and feel it is important for us to have the opportunity to be together. We will use this time to meditation along with a short check in to see how we can best support one another. Plus the facilitator will continue on our Dharma theme offering everyone a focus for our practice. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our love and kindness for the wellness of all beings.
Join us to explore….this Wednesday…!
Eight Verses For Training the Mind
verse 7
In brief, directly or indirectly,
I will offer help and happiness to all my mothers,
And secretly take upon myself
All their hurt and suffering.
(mothers refers to an inter connectedness of all beings)
As we reflect, practice and absorb the preceding 6 verses we can now support the idea of a redress of the imbalance between self and other. We can turn towards and practice equalizing self and other, and then perhaps exchanging self and other, loosening our self cherishing to include others.
“All beings like myself seek happiness.
All beings like myself create conditions for present and future suffering.
What a pity.”
The tonglen meditation practice accentuates this exchange for self and other and refers to giving and receiving. We imagine compassionately taking in others sufferings and giving back metta. This includes our own discomforts, fears, anxieties angers and confusions.
Please join us as we explore the connections with self and other.
All are welcome as we continue to deepen our study and engagement with these ancient teachings.
“There are no higher teachings, only deeper understandings.” ~Sangharakshita
