Nagaloka Buddhist Center

Due to the COVID-19 Nagaloka is closed to the public. We decided best not to have any in person meditation or study group sessions on Wednesday evening or Sunday AM.

Instead we will be meeting online by Zoom at 6:45 pm to 8 pm if you would to join us. We value Sangha (spiritual community) and feel it is important for us to have the opportunity to be together. We will use this time to meditation along with a short check in to see how we can best support one another. Plus the facilitator will continue on our Dharma theme offering everyone a focus for our practice. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our love and kindness for the wellness of all beings.

Upekkha Bhavana

This Wednesday we will continue our journey through the Brahma Viharas and enter the last of the four, the Upekkha Bhavana. Upekkha, meaning equanimity, brings together all the work done with metta, karuna, and mudita and raises them to the highest possible level. In the Upekkha Bhavana we are invited to respond with kindness, compassion and joy in other’s joy, without bias and completely beyond any likes, dislikes or preferences. Can we respond to a neutral person, a friend and an enemy with the same or equal positive emotion? Can we begin to see the conditioned nature of our own and other’s suffering and joy? Here we begin to combine the clarity of insight with an openness of heart and positive emotion that helps us realize our connectedness to all beings raising kindness to the highest level.
