We invite you to attend our friends’ night the first and third Wednesday of each month for meditation and Dharma discussion. We offer guided meditation and open discussion for beginners. We alternate between the mindfulness of breathing and the development of loving kindness meditation.

Ethical behavior is a foundation of Buddhist practice that ultimately provides us a source of happiness. Represented by the five precepts or principles of practice, they set in motion our ability to develop kindness, generosity, contentment, integrity and awareness. The precepts each have a positive and negative form. The negative advises us what not to do (unskillful) and the positive form expresses ways in which we are aiming for better behavior (skillful).

Beginning in January and over the next few months our Wednesday Friend’s night theme is Ethics focusing on the 5 precepts. Each month our study and discussion will address one of them. Through them not only do we strive to avoid harming others we bring a deep connection with the universe by strengthening our sense of interconnectedness and empathy with all beings.

A dana (contribution) bowl is set up for your contribution. We suggest $5- $10.

Before we meditate, we chant the three refuges and five precepts. This is how to connect more deeply with our minds to spiritual awakening.
