This evening (Monday 2/11) is the last of the 5 weeks exploring the Five Jinas. We will be ending our session by being in the presence of the white illuminating white light of Vairochana.

On Monday, February 25th starts the 13 weeks advance/mitra study on Sangharachita’s book “What is the Dharma” facilitated by Anne Rugg. Please sign up NOW for this class as I need to order the books soon. Thanks!

On Wednesday we will continue to develop positive mental states by spending time meditating and discussing Upekkha Bhavana, the meditation on peacefulness.

Karunasara will facilitate the conclusion next week Feb 20th on the practice of the Four Brahma Viharas.

On Wednesday, Feb 27 Nancy will lead the evening celebrating Parinirvana Day … the death of the Buddha. Parinirvana Day is used to reflect on not only the Buddha’s death, but also on impermanence, and an opportunity to reflect on the fact of our own death and on people whom one has know who have recently died. Please check with Nancy if you would like to learn more or have questions.

On Wednesday, March 4th starts the new book “Buddhism: Tools for living your life.” by Vajragupta, a WBO order member. The book is here and the cost is $16.95. Karunasara, Nancy and Linda are the team facilitators who will be leading us through the next 13 weeks of inspiriting Dharma.

For those who have a key to Nagaloka there is a sign up sheet posted at Nagaloka to unlock the door on Friday at 6 PM and Sunday at 9 AM for the regular meditation sessions over the next eight weeks. David and I are leaving Thursday for Georgia.

Lou is home and doing very well recovering from a broken leg.

With metta,

Dharmasuri

According to Buddhism for a man to be perfect there are two qualities that he should develop equally: compassion on one side, and wisdom on the other. Here compassion represents love, charity, kindness, tolerance and such noble qualities on the emotional side, or qualities of the heart, while wisdom would stand for the intellectual side or the qualities of the mind. If one develops only the emotional neglecting the intellectual, one may become a good-hearted fool; while to develop only the intellectual side neglecting the emotional may turn one into a hardhearted intellect without feelings for others. Therefore, to be perfect one has to develop both equally. That is the aim of the Buddhist way of life: in it wisdom and compassion are inseparably linked together.–Walpola Rahula, What the Buddha Taught
